I didn’t know what to expect from the Odd Future show last night, but I knew it was one CMJ show I didn’t want to miss.  The show was packed to the maximum capacity, with a ton of anxious goblin fans and eager crowd surfers. The show started a little late, but OFWGKTA delivered an energetic performance to their mostly 18 year-old crowd.  After attending the show, I can see the hype around this group, they definitely have the  talent and the stage presence.  Most importantly, they have the attributes to create an interesting cult like following… They are original, random, crazy and they just dont give a pluck! (haha).  Odd Future has a very unique style and they bring it to their music, performance and clothing.  There were lines literally out the door to purchase Odd Future merchandise.  They definitely made a huge portion of their sales at the merchandise table!

The one thing I love about this group is their ability to speak to their generation, it’s a new approach to Hip Hop and it’s still new and in development. I think it will be interesting to see where they will be in the next five years… but I am pretty sure these goblins will be a force in the future of Hip Hop.
